- IIT Kharagpur announces the fourth edition of Nina Saxena Excellence in Technology Award to invite entries of this year in areas of technical innovations. Nominations for entries to the award are open until April 30, 2010. Entries can be submitted either by post to the Director, IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal,PIN -721302, India or by email at director@iitkgp.ernet.in. The nomination form is also available on the official award website http://www.iitkgp.ac.in/topfiles/nina.php.

The objective behind the award is to commemorate the spirit and drive of Dr. Nina Saxena, who personified technical excellence. The fourth edition will continue the tradition of rewarding pioneering innovations for betterment of society.
Professor Madhusudan Chakraborty, Deputy Director, IIT Kharagpur said, "I am happy to be associated with this award instituted in commemoration of Nina, a brilliant scientist remembered for her stellar intellectual achievements and technological excellence. The award celebrates the spirit of innovation and encourages the brightest minds in India to work towards a technology advanced India."
Added Professor Amit Patra, Dean of Alumni Affairs and International Relations, IIT Kharagpur, "We believe that this first of its kind award in Technology Excellence in India continues to recognize the ground breaking talent in technology innovations across India year after year."
The Award will be given out to the most deserving technologist who has done breakthrough technical work. The nominations will be adjudged on the basis of the following dimensions and in the following order of importance:
-- Innovation above and beyond well known results
-- Novel application of a well known result
-- Societal improvement
-- Benefit to India
-- Application of Technology to underdeveloped areas and causes
A distinguished committee is being formed by IIT Kharagpur to adjudge the nominations for this award. The award committee is chaired by Director of IIT Kharagpur and is comprised of Deans and selected faculty members of IIT Kharagpur and well known alumnus, based in India and in the US.
