Driving recklessly will get you into serious trouble with the law, so for those who like the thrill of speed (but hate fines!), here's good news: Companies will soon be coming out with a slew of new computer games where you can drive like Schumacher or Alain Prost-sans any infuriating challans! A few of the coming attractions include Sony's 'Gran Turismo 5' from Polyphony Digital, Activision Blizzard's 'Blur' and Disney's 'Split/Second'.

John Taylor, videogame analyst, Arcadia Research, said that the American racing games market has now more than doubled since 2004. He said the racing arena still has strong titles, such as Nintendo's 'Mario Kart Wii', Microsoft's 'FORZA Motorsport' and Sony's 'Gran Turismo', with this year's offerings set to expand a business that, says analyst Anita Frazier, netted sales of $548 million in 2009.
"Today, more than 20 per cent of US gamers play action or sports racing games with the demographics skewing to younger males," said Michael Cai, vice president, research, Interpret.
Liverpool-based game studio Bizarre Creations has veered towards action racing with 'Blur'. Its previous racing franchise, Microsoft's 'Project Gotham Racing', sold over 7 million copies on Xbox 360, including 2.9 million units in America alone, according to The NPD Group. Another British game developer, Black Rock Studios, is launching a pulse-pounding arcade racing game called 'Split/Second', reports Reuters.
