McAfee, Inc., announced the promotion of Michael Sentonas to the position of vice president and chief technology officer, Asia Pacific for McAfee. In his new role, based in Sydney, Sentonas joins leaders from the Americas and EMEA within the McAfee Office of the CTO. He will work with them to advance McAfee relationships with key customers and partners in order to support each region’s unique business and regulatory requirements.

Led by McAfee Worldwide Chief Technology Officer George Kurtz, the Office of the CTO has external and internal responsibilities. Internally, the CTO team helps drive innovation throughout McAfee by analysing market trends, customer feedback and incorporating it into the product development cycle. Externally, the CTO team focuses on activities such as keynotes, media presentations, industry associations and thought leadership with key customers, partners and governments around the globe.
“Michael is an experienced technologist and has the expertise to guide McAfee, our partners and our customers as we continue to innovate in our battle to fight cybercrime and overcome cybersecurity challenges,” said Kurtz. “Michael’s knowledge of the IT security market is extensive and with his leadership we will strengthen our position as the world’s largest dedicated security company.”
Sentonas joined McAfee in 1999 and has over fifteen years experience in the IT industry, focusing on Internet security. His past roles include sales engineering and services, software development, security consulting and management.
“This is an incredible opportunity for McAfee and our customers and partners in the Asia Pacific region,” said Sentonas. “Through my role as Asia Pacific CTO our customers and partners will be able to collaborate directly with the Office of the CTO and stay ahead in the war against cybercrime.”
A regular speaker on security issues at industry events and executive roundtables across the Asia Pacific region, Sentonas is a passionate advocate of the business value of IT security management. He has been regularly featured as a security expert and contributes regularly to trade and business publications.
