Maestros Mediline Systems Limited, a leader in design of Diagnostic and Patient Monitoring Devices in association with Vodafone today announced the launch of the mobile ECG (electrocardiogram) application eUNO R10 for BlackBerry(r) smartphones.
The eUNO R10 solution will be available to cardiologists in India who want to be empowered with instant remote access to patients' ECG and heart performance reports on their BlackBerry smartphones, allowing them to respond quickly with a diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate medication.
Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, is the first hospital to adopt the eUNO R10 application and its cardiologists will now have access to patient's ECG reports on their BlackBerry smartphones. Dr. Pavan Kumar -Head of Telemedicine Department at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital - was instrumental in conceptualizing this solution with Maestros Mediline in his efforts to advance healthcare and minimize deaths caused by heart disease.
According to Dr. Pavan Kumar, "A heart attack is a life-threatening event. Knowing the symptoms of heart attack and seeking immediate medical attention is essential to prevent death, while appropriate treatment instituted within the first hour - the golden hour - can limit the damage to the heart. eUNO R10 mobile ECG application on the BlackBerry platform from Vodafone helps us to respond quickly, and hence is a welcome relief for doctors and patients alike."
Dr. Krishnakumar Menon, Managing Director, Maestros Mediline Systems Limited said, "At Maestros we believe in offering innovative technology solutions to help bridge the gap between doctors and patients. We are pleased to offer eUNO R10 mobile ECG solution on BlackBerry smartphones, which will help cardiologists offer medical treatment efficiently irrespective of where they are.
Maestros, with its 15 years of experience in designing diagnostic and patient monitoring devices, has developed a series of specialist products targeted towards remote patient monitoring and telemedicine applications. Carried by mobile paramedics, these specialist devices record heart performance and when connected to the Internet, send the relevant information to the medial records server, which then automatically 'pushes' the ECG report to a doctor's BlackBerry smartphone over the Vodafone network. Doctors can also use the eUNO R10 application on their BlackBerry smartphones to retrieve patient information wherever and whenever they are.
Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Marketing Officer, Vodafone Essar said, "The launch of the mobile ECG solution is a reflection of our commitment and ability to automate high-end work processes so that organizations and people stay connected wherever they are, whenever they want. The success of any telemedicine solution depends on robust mobile network and seamless connectivity, which we provide via our pan-India network. We are particularly pleased with this joint initiative because it utilises technology to enable the improvement of healthcare."
Frenny Bawa, Managing Director of India, Research In Motion, added "Mobile technologies are playing an increasingly useful role in the healthcare industry and we are very pleased that Maestros Mediline Systems and Dr. Pavan Kumar have developed this innovative application, which leverages the many advantages of the BlackBerry platform."
