Fortinet a leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions–today announced that Ascent Consulting Services Pvt, Ltd, a pan-Indian technology and outsourcing company, has deployed Fortinet’s FortiGate-ONE™ security software in its new data center to strengthen its global security infrastructure.

The outsourcing company determined that the combined Fortinet/HP ProCurve solution was the preferred networking and security solution, in terms of integrated security, performance and scalability, for its new data center.
Offering management solutions for human resource, finance and legal compliance departments, Ascent has decided to set up a new data center to keep up with its fast-growing business. The data center was created to store confidential information belonging to Ascent’s clients and to serve as the network security core center for the company’s corporate network. The outsourcing company therefore looked at implementing a stronger and more comprehensive security infrastructure via a solution, which would provide key security functions such as intrusion prevention, Web content filtering, antispam, desktop security and application control. That integrated security solution would also have to be able to scale with the expansion of Ascent’s operations.
After conducting a comparative analysis of the various solutions available on the market, including those from Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Nortel and SonicWall, Ascent chose the new Fortinet/HP ProCurve solution.
“As we deal with sensitive data, including financial information coming from our customers, data integrity and privacy remain top priorities for us,” said Narayana Bhat P., IT manager for Ascent. “To cope with the increase in data traffic in terms of volume and intensity, we needed to upgrade our security infrastructure and the combined Fortinet FortiGate-ONE solution deployed on a HP ProCurve chassis-based switch appeared to be the best option for high-level protection in a rapidly growing network environment.”
The deployment of Fortinet’s FortiGate-ONE appliance on the HP ProCurve platform took only one week and, was done by FutureBizTech, Ascent’s IT partner. Fortinet’s FortiGate-ONE software is a security-hardened, purpose-built security solution for the HP ProCurve networking environment. FortiGate-ONE software enables ProCurve customers to deploy a single blade with integrated firewall, antivirus/antispyware, IPS, IPSec and SSL VPN, Web filtering, antispam, application control, data loss prevention and dynamic routing for IPv4 and IPv6.
