Daikin Appoints India Managing Director

Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., the fully owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd., Japan and the market leader in the premium air-conditioning market in India today announced the appointment of Mr. Kanwal Jeet Jawa as its Managing Director. He is also being inducted to the Board of Directors.

Jawa will be responsible for the overall business operations of Daikin in India and will lead Daikin’s march to attain leadership position in the HVAC market. The current Managing Director of Daikin India, Mr. Toshiki Hayashi moves to Daikin Europe to take an assignment there.
Announcing Mr. Jawa's appointment, Mr. Toshio Nakano, The General Manager of Daikin Asia / Oceania Regional Headquarter and Chairman of Daikin India said, “In our pursuit of leadership we will continue to build strong leadership across all regions in the world. We are certain that under Mr. Jawa's leadership and experience of the Indian air-conditioning Industry Daikin will be able to achieve our mid term goals”
Sharing his vision Mr. Jawa said “Am indeed grateful to the Board of Daikin for reposing their faith in me. I view this as both a challenge and an opportunity. I am confident that given the strong brand recognition that we enjoy, and the very competent, motivated team, we will be able to realize our vision in India, and create value for all stakeholders. I thank my predecessor Mr. Hayashi who has led Daikin India to its present position of strength, and has laid down the foundation for our quantum leap in the years to come. I will strive to ensure that our team and me work towards a significant role for Daikin in India's unprecedented growth momentum in general, and the air conditioning space in particular.
Mr. Jawa is a veteran in the air conditioning business with over 30 years of experience that incorporates establishing leading air-conditioning brands and further creating value simultaneously for the brand and the customers alike. Throughout his career Mr. Jawa has held various senior management positions in the field of General Management with highly reputed airconditioning companies. After a brief stint with Godrej, Blue Star and Voltas, Mr. Jawa joined Carrier in 1987 where he was one of the key founder members.
His stint at Carrier lasted for 14 years. In 2001, Mr. Jawa joined Voltas Limited Cooling Appliances Business Division. Later on, he was inducted to the Board of the Joint Venture Universal Comforts Products Limited (Voltas & Fedders USA). In his last assignment prior to joining Daikin, Mr. Jawa was the Managing Director of Uniflair India, a part of Uniflair SpA, an Italian MNC. During his stint of over 3 years at Uniflair, he successfully established a Green field venture with a local manufacturing unit with integrated supply chain and a fine distribution channel.
Mr Jawa joined early this year as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer and in a very short span of time demonstrated success in surpassing revenue and profit targets, delivering excellent service, optimizing business efficiency thereby creating a sustainable business.
