| Its a debatable subject ideally a dishwasher consumes 12-13 liters of water in one wash. But for hand wash it really depends. I believe dish washing is always water saver in comparison to hand-wash. |

| Salt is basically used to remove the harshness of water so that it does nt leave any mark on the utensils. I think crystalline chloride is used. in a simple language salt is used as a water softener. Granular salt is the ONLY type of salt that should be used to regenerate the softener. |
