Now Avoid Unwanted Calls Without Offending The Caller! Unwanted mobile calls? Now you get to decide who should reach you on your mobile and who doesn't. Here's an application that gives you all the privacy you need without offending the caller! Ring! You check the number. Oh, it's that call which you don't want to pick up now. But the caller is so sensitive that you need to pick up or else it'll appear as an offence. Cursing mobile phones and its reachability, you pick up the phone. Has this happened to you before? Well, here comes an application that could bail you out from such situations. Now YOU get to decide who should reach you and who should not. XBLOCKR - an application developed by Bengaluru-based Aquilonis enables users avoid unwanted calls discreetly, without offending the callers. A Comprehensive Call Management System When someone calls you and you intentionally disconnect the phone, the caller will feel offended. With this application, you can avert this. "XBLOCKR is a comprehensive call management system that filters calls properly, on the-fly. When you receive a call you can decide what you want to do with the call," explains Rahuldev Rajguru, co-founder & CEO, Aquilonis. The application provides three features - duck, drop and divert. If you are in a meeting and expecting a call from your client, you can configure an SMS saying you're in a meeting and will call back as soon as its over-- which will be send when you duck the call. But at the same time if you get a sales call or some calls which you do not wish to attend at all, then you may drop the call. This feature simulates a response similar to that of a network error. And if you receive any official calls when you are away on your vacation / roaming, you may even divert the incoming call to one of your colleagues. Duck, drop or divert
The application provides three features - duck, drop and divert.
When you duck an incoming call, the call will get disconnected. If you
have configured your voicemail box, the caller will be directed there.
The next step in this feature is the duck & SMS option which allows
you to disconnect the call and automatically send a customised text
message back to the caller.
f you see that you need to avoid a call without offending the caller,
the drop feature of this application might be the one function for you.
This feature simulates a response similar to that of a network error. In
real, the call will be automatically picked up for a moment and then
disconnected giving the caller the illusion that there's some network
problem.
Has it happened to you that you were disturbed by official calls when
you were enjoying your vacation? With this application when you
divert an incoming call, the call automatically goes to a predefined
number of your choice and some of your colleagues could take it up
further.

An operator independent application XBLOCKR is an operator independent application. This application takes less than 100 KB and runs on handsets. There's no network dependency. "Since it's a device controlled application and not an operator controlled, the user gets an upper hand", says Rajguru. The application is compatible with mobile platforms including Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows. "We selected these 3 platforms since it's easy to develop. Our objective is to cover as many platforms and handsets as possible. We are currently working on the Android SDK which would be completed in another 2-3 months , depending on the time required for R&D ", exlpains Rajguru. First of its kind of application from India Aquilonis claims itself to be the the first Indian company to come up with such a comprehensive call management system. Launched in February 2010, this application is priced at Rs 349 for Indian customers. "We are targeting Indian and overseas customers. Many international products come around $15- $30 ( Rs 700 - Rs 1400 ). We offer our products at Rs 349 to Indian customers and $20 (Rs 900) to foreign customers. All our competitors have static products and don't offer facilities on the fly. In our products everything happens at real time ", explains Rajguru. One licence costs Rs 349 and is allocated to one handset. If you change your handset you need to get a new licence. "We have doctors, students, execs, etc., using this application. The USP is the ability to manage calls on the fly. Majority of our users use this application for DND facility where except for pre-defined special numbers no other caller can reach you," explains Rajguru. What's in the offing? "Our next upgrade will be to manage SMS / outgoing calls. If you make a call and find that the number is busy, a pre-recorded SMS like "I tried to reach you. Please call me back" will be sent automatically to the caller, "says Rajguru. One shortcoming with this product now is that calls in the queue cannot be managed, i.e., if you are already on a call and you receive a second call which you want to drop, you cannot. "We are working on it. No drop facility is available as of now. Only duck and SMS will work for call-queuing which can be used as an alternative," explains Rajguru. --Sherin Noordheen
