Top 5 Android Smartphones Under Rs 5000

Android is gaining popularity with every passing day. Right from global handset majors like Samsung, HTC, Huawei to local players like Micromax and Karbonn Mobiles, all the companies have launched their Android handsets in India. While the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system has already started arriving on a couple of smartphones and Google has even started talks regarding the Android 5.0 version, we have compiled a list of affordable Android smartphones available in the Indian market for sub-Rs 5,000. MTS Livewire

The MTS Livewire mobile phone comes bundled with the MTS offer, which includes a fixed number of  local and national calls, local and national messages, and certain free data usage per month for one year. It is a CDMA handset. The handset runs Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and has the 600 MHz Speed Provider ARM 11 Processor. It sports a 7.1-cm (2.8-inch) resistive touchscreen and a 3 MP camera. It is equipped with 256 MB RAM and has expandable memory up to 32 GB with the microSD card. It even has features like MTS TV. Spice Mi 270

The Android smartphone from Spice is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) handset. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo version of the operating system. It sports a 7.1-cm (2.8-inch) QVGA touchscreen and a 2 MP primary camera with digital zoom. It is powered by a MediaTek600 MHz Processor and has expandable memory up to 16 GB. Micromax Andro A60

The Micromax Andro A60 runs Android 2.1 Eclair operating system and is powered by a high-end 600 MHz Qualcomm processor. It sports a 7.1-cm (2.8-inch) resistive touchscreen with SWYPE support. It features a 3.2 MP camera with auto-focus and digital zoom and has 150 MB internal memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD card. It offers talk time up to 4 hours and is said to have a standby time of 10 days. It was launched at a price of Rs 7,999 but now costs just Rs 4,385. You can click here to buy the handset.

Karbonn A1

Karbonn A1 is the first and only Android mobile phone from Karbonn Mobiles. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo version of the operating system and sports a 7.1-cm (2.8-inch) resistive touchscreen. It comes with a 3.2 MP primary camera and is said to be India's most affordable 3G-enabled phone. It has 150 MB inbuilt memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD card. The handset comes with a 600 MHz processor and has a virtual QWERTY keypad. It also comes with SWYPE and handwriting recognition. Spice Mi 280

The successor of Mi 270, Spice Mi 280 is a dual SIM smartphone. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is powered by a 650 MHz processor. It comes with a 7.1-inch (2.8-inch) TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen and a 3.2 MP rear camera along with a VGA front camera. It has a RAM of 256 MB and has expandable memory up to 32 GB with microSD card. It has a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard and the company claims that the handset offers up to 6 days of 2G standby time.
