Top Ultrabooks In India


Since the beginning of 2012, India has witnessed a number of Ultrabook launches. Ultrabooks are slim, sleek and extremely responsive, which makes them the first choice for tech enthusiasts. While it is taking time to pick up in the market as it is a high-end device, it is expected to become a raging trend in the market soon. We bring you the best ultrabooks available in the market to help you stay with the time!


Wipro Aero e.go




Wipro launched its first ultrabook, Aero e.go, in the beginning of 2012. The ultrabook is weighed around 1.7 kg with 13.3 mm of thickness. The device is powered by second generation Intel i5 core processor. It includes a 4 GB RAM, 500 GB hard disk space with Windows 7 along with pre-installed Microsoft office. The ultrabook sports an isolation keyboard, multi-gesture touch pad, Intel Rapid Start, Intel Smart Response and Intel Smart Connect features, for instant-boot. It features a 29.5-cm (11.6-inch) HD display.

Price: Between Rs 39,900 and Rs 49,000



Samsung Series 5 ultrabook



Samsung launched its series 5 ultrabook in India this year which was quite a head turner. It is powered by Intel i5 core processor and is also available in a 33-cm (13-inch) and 35.6-cm (14-inch) sizes. The 33-cm model weighs 1.42 kg with a thickness of 14.9-17.6 mm, 8GB memory, 500 GB hard drive and ExpressCache memory. On the other hand, the 35.6-cm model is 20.9 mm thin and weighs 1.84 kg. It also comes along with 8GB memory and 16 GB ExpressCache memory.

Price: between Rs 48,990 and Rs 54,390



Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook






Acer Aspire S3 came out as the first ultrabook from the company. This 13 mm thick device weighs around 1.4 kg. It features a 33.8-cm (13.3-inch) LED backlit LCD TFT display and is powered by second generation Intel core i3, i5, i7 processor. It comes along with a battery life of upto 7 hours and Windows 7 home premium. The device runs on a 3-cell lithium ion 3280mAh battery and for connectivity options it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB and HDMI ports and a two in one card reader. It also contains features that instantly switch on the device and connect to the Intenet within seconds.

Price: Rs 49,990



Lenovo IdeaPad U300S




Lenovo's ultrabook sports a 33.8-cm (13.3-inch) slim HD wide-screen display integrated with a 1.3 MP camera. The second generation Intel core processor is available between i5 and  i7. RAM is expandable up to 4 GB and storage is put to a 256 GB SSD limit. The IdeaPad comes in a basic charcoal colour but it is also available in a vibrant clementine orange. It has all the connectivity options like USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, HDMI ports but it lacks a memory card slot, which can be a huge disadvantage.

ASUS Zenbook UX31E






ASUS launched its Zenbook UX31E last year in November. It is a slim device at 9mm thin at the rear end and just 3 mm on the front. Weighing 1.4 kg, this device is powered by Intel core i7 processor, has 4GB RAM, 256GB harddisk, a stylish keyboard. It features an HD display of 33.8-cm (13.3-inch). There are other features like, audio from Bang & Olufsen ICEpower and ASUS SonicMaster Tech, a USB2.0 port, a USB3.0 port, microHDMI and miniVGA ports, Ethernet adapter, SD card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and an integrated 3MP webcam and microphone.

Price: Rs 89,999 



Toshiba Portege Z830



Last week, Toshiba launched its ultrabook, which is 15.9 mm thick and weighs around 1.13 kg. The device runs Windows 7 and is powered by i3/ i5/ i7 Intel core processors. It features a 33.8-cm (13.3 inch) HD display with LED back lighting. For connectivity, it has a single port of USB 3.0 and twin USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI, Wi-Fi  and ethernet. It also offers a battery back up of 8 hours. The ultrabook comes with Toshiba high speed technology that enables it to boot up in mere 30 seconds. It is different from other ultrabooks due to its non removable batteries which might not work in its favor.

Price: Rs 96,290



Dell XPS13




XPS13 is the latest member of the ultrabook family as it was launched on 20 March this year itself. It is made up of aluminium and carbon fibre with a 33.8-cm (13.3-inch) edge to edge display of Corning Gorilla glass. It sports a razor thin display and is powered by second generation Intel core i5 and i7 processor. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system along with a battery life upto 9 hours. The Dell ultrabook is said to be a very responsive device and boots within a fraction of seconds. It also features a backlit keyboard and the bottom is made up of carbon fibre so that it stays cool!

Price: Between Rs 79,900 and Rs 99,900



HP Folio 13


Folio 13 is recommended for its extra long battery life that stretches to 9.5 hours. It displays a 33.8-cm (13.3-inch) HD clear view screen and 1.9-cm (0.75-inch) thin body that weighs around 1.5 kg. The ultrabook comes along with a warranty limited to 3 years and a Rapid Start Technology that makes the device extremely responsive. The HP Folio 13 has features like HP TrueVision HD Web-cam for brighter and cleaner HD images and Dolby Advanced Audio. It includes all the connectivity options like Wi-Fi, USB ports, audio ports etc.
