Qualcomm Intros New Snapdragon 200 Dual And Quad Core Chips  
 
The chip making giant, Qualcomm introduced new dual-core and quad-core chips clocked at 1.2 GHz and packed with Adreno 302 GPU.

Thursday, June 20, 2013 The chip maker, Qualcomm has recently expanded its offering to its Snapdragon 200 line-up by introducing a new set of SoCs (System On Chip) by adding the new Adreno 302 GPU. These Snapdragon 200 chips were first introduced by Qualcomm at the CES 2013 earlier this year in January. The detailed features of the 8225Q and 8625Q was released in the month of February.

Now the latest offerings from the company are new 8×10 and 8×12 processors with ARM Cortex A7 CPUs, which are based on 28nm process technology which has support for HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps) and TD-SCDMA.

The 8610 and 8210 amongst the newly launched chips sport dual-core CPUs and the 8612 and 8212 sports a quad-core CPUs. All of these chipsets are clocked at 1.2 GHz per core and are packed with Adreno 302 GPU. Qualcomm will also bring the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) versions of the processors.

Both the chipset and the Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) will be available for sale by end of 2013.

Key highlights of the Snapdragon 200 (8×10 and 8×12) processors:

- Up to 1.2 GHz dual-core or quad-core Cortex A7 CPU
- Adreno 302 GPU, LPDDR2 RAM
- Up to 720p HD display
- Support for up to 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and up to a 5-megapixel front-facing camera
- Dual SIM, Dual Standby, and Dual SIM, Dual Active, and Tri SIM Tri Standby support
- IZat Location functionality for accurate auto and pedestrian navigation and indoor location capabilities for advanced location-based services
- Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0
- Support for the latest Android, Windows Phone and Firefox operating systems
