Wednesday, July 03, 2013 The second major release of Fedora Linux project, Fedora 19 has been released. The Red Hat-sponsored project has been released 7 months after the Fedora Linux 18 and offers several new features for server administrators.

Fedora, Fedora 19, Fedora 20, Flock, Linux distro, Red Hat

The latest version first made its appearance in May end, giving a sneak peek into the world of Fedora 19. Coming to the feature list, it is an impressive one with new Federated VoIP, high-availability features, advanced firewall security and the latest PHP 5.5 stack.

Now that Fedora 19 has been released, developers will now focus on the development of Fedora 20. Robyn Bergeron, Fedora project leader told ServerWatch in an exclusive what the future holds and how it will soon Flock forward.

Wondering what flock is? Well, it is one of the ways that the project will evolve by a new organizing conference called Flock. Flock will replace the former FUDcon (Fedora Users and Developers) conference, the report adds.

Reportedly, the Flock event will be unique in its manner in the progress of Fedora and will be somewhat similar to how the OpenStack Design Summits operate. It could be present in Fedora 20 release cycle too.

Bergeron added, "We're hoping to come out of this with a good solid plan for the next six months to one year of work.”

Bergeron also said, “From a Fedora Project standpoint, improving some of the inner parts of the Fedora infrastructure and project could well be on the table. How can we make the sausage better rather than just improve the sausage ingredients?" Bergeron said.
