Skype To Slash Call Rates?  
 
As always, Skype-to-Skype calls will be free.

Thursday, December 21, 2006:  Skype is to announce a new pricing structure for SkypeOut worldwide. The company will give out further details on 18 January 2007. Skype’s new pricing structure includes a connection fee of 0–0.039 euros per call (exclusive of VAT) effective from 13.00 CET, 18 January 2007.

Earlier this week, Skype announced its new calling plan for the North American market. This plan offers registered Skype users a paid-for-annual-subscription service to make 12 months of unlimited SkypeOut calls to any phone within the US and Canada. Skype has offered a number of paid for services since July 2004, including SkypeIn, SkypeOut and Skype Voicemail.

The new pricing strategy will provide over 136 million registered Skype users with more exciting and cost-effective ways of keeping in touch with their friends and family across the world.
