Wednesday, May 16, 2007 Already launched in several countries, Yahoo!'s mobile search service has now entered the Asia-Pacific zone. Yahoo! has expanded the reach of its Yahoo! oneSearch beta to consumers in India. oneSearch reinvents search on the mobile and is designed to provide consumers instant and relevant answers on their mobile device. This beta version of oneSearch can now be accessed through Yahoo!’s mobile web site, on any mobile phone with a browser and Internet access.

“Consumers want search on their mobile phone to be entirely different from search on the PC,” said David Ko, vice president and general manager, connected life Asia, Yahoo!. “Yahoo! oneSearch is designed specifically for the mobile phone. It understands what busy consumers are looking for when they are on the move and brings up relevant answers in the first screen. Yahoo! oneSearch delivers better results with just one search, instead of a sea of Web links to PC sites."

At launch, consumers in India will be able to access news, finance, weather, image, Flickr, web and mobile web results. Yahoo! will also add new types of content to the service over the coming months.

Yahoo! oneSearch on Yahoo!’s mobile web service has advertising built into the experience, enabling advertisers to reach consumers on their mobile devices across major mobile operators. This further extends the reach of Yahoo!’s advertising services to the mobile environment. Consumers will be able to click on an ad to go to the advertiser's mobile web site or a landing page to get additional information about the advertiser's offerings, including the ability to call the advertiser.

Along with India, Yahoo! oneSearch will go live in beta in other countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In total, the service is now live in 14 countries around the world including the US, Italy, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Canada.
