Tuesday, October 23, 2007:
Microsoft India has made its Unified Communications (UC) software available. The software will enable employees within organisations to be able to communicate and collaborate through e-mails, phone call, instant messaging, video conference in an efficient manner through any device such as a computer, cell phone or even a public phone. Microsoft’s UC solution allows businesses to leverage existing IT and telephony infrastructure, with no need to rip and replace current telephony infrastructure such as EPBAX systems.

Microsoft has also launched 'Unified Communications Open Interoperability', a telephony system qualification programme, to give customers the assurance that Microsoft unified communications software works with their existing telephony systems.
Microsoft’s UC and VoIP software launched are as follows: Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 -- a software that delivers VoIP, video, instant messaging, conferencing and presence within the applications people already know and use such as Microsoft Office system applications and upcoming versions of Microsoft Dynamics ERP products and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM; Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 -- a client software for phone, instant messaging and video communications that works across the PC, mobile phone and Web-browser; Microsoft Office Live Meeting -- an advanced conferencing service that enables workers to conduct meetings, share documents, utilise video and record discussions from any computer; Service pack update of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 -- an e-mail, voice mail, calendaring and unified messaging platform.
"Unified Communications Software will redefine the way organisations communicate and collaborate both in India and around the world," said Eric Swift, senior director, unified communications group. "Microsoft’s software-based approach is unique and is expected to usher in changes to enterprise voice communication that will fundamentally transforming business communications. Leading IT global research firms like Gartner have validated our approach by positioning Microsoft as one of the leaders in the unified communication space due to the completeness of our vision and our capability to execute this solution."
