Thursday, November 01, 2007 HCL Technologies Ltd today inaugurated the HCL Technology Hub at Noida and is expected to invest to the tune of Rs 1000 crore ($250 million) in the HCL Technology Hub; which is envisioned to become the crucible of knowledge sharing, fermentation of ideas and the incubation and development of powerful next-generation intellectual property. The 46-acre facility will have 2 million sq. ft of space for 15,000 professionals developing technologies for the future; and generate revenues in excess of $1 billion annually.

A HCL technology Hub is also coming up in a 28 acre location on Jigni Road, near Electronic City, Bengaluru. The Hub will be operational next year and will house 10,000 employees. HCL also plans to set up centres in Bengaluru and Chennai by second quarter of next fiscal and also in Nagpur and Madurai by 2009-end.

The entire Technology Hub infrastructure is designed as per ‘green’ building norms and some of its prominent features include efficient use of water, energy efficient and eco-friendly equipment, effective use of landscape and effective control and building management systems. The landscape at the HCL Technology Hub includes water bodies, a large lake and lots of green. A gym is planned to be equipped with latest and hi-tech health and fitness equipment, and also a multi-cuisine cafeteria is designed to provide a variety of food.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Nadar, founder, HCL, said, “Since its inception three decades ago, HCL has always dared to dream fearlessly and is responsible for many firsts in the computing landscape. We could well be called a ‘pioneer of modern computing’. Today we are daring to dream again for our collective tomorrow by ‘building technologies of the future’. We shall be extending such technology hubs beyond large cities, to the tier II cities of Nagpur, Madurai and Lucknow; truly taking technology to where the talent is.”
