Saturday, December 01, 2007 Former Indian president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam has launched a fortnightly e-paper 'Billion Beats' on his website www.abdulkalam.com to focus on the positive side of India. The e-paper will aim at highlighting the success stories of India and also establishing a knowledge connectivity amongst the people. V Ponraj is the content editor and M. Anantha Krishnan is the national affairs editor of Billion Beats.

"Launching billion beats, an e-paper through the website is www.abdulkalam.com indeed a beautiful idea. The e-paper should set a new tradition. It should celebrate the success of the people wherever they are. It may be from an agriculture village, or fishing village, it may be from a diary village, it may be from industrial or service sector," explained Dr Kalam.

"In short, Billion Beats should capture and spread the success and its glad tidings. We have the islands of success in every field of activity; we should connect them to make a garland. I am confident that billion beats would create knowledge connectivity amongst the people," he further added.

The idea of 'Billion Beats' was just an incident, which took place when Dr Kalam was coming out of a television interview in New Delhi. Looking at his current advisor, V Ponraj, Dr Kalam asked, "Why are we not highlighting the success stories of achievers. Why are we not bringing unsung heroes to the forefront. Can't we start a paper of your choice." This is how Billion Beats was born.

He was truely the 'First Citizen' of our country. One among the most brilliant minds of our country, he is not just a visionary and ex-president, but also someone who actually values and effects his commitment to the country by way of his various efforts to reach out to the younger generation of this country. He attempts to reshape the nation by shaping the young minds for the best while they are still amenable to shaping. Kudos to Mother India for producing such a worthy son and for this great man on his use of his capacities for the betterment of india.

All wishes Mr. Kalam's Billion Bits -World's first ex-president to launch an e-paper. His art of Management using all the latest developments in modern technology aiming the progress of the country with his dedicated service has become a part and parcel of everyday life, be it at home, in the office or factory and in Government. In all organizations, where a group of human beings assemble for a common purpose irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, management principles come into play through the management of resources, finance and planning, priorities, policies and practice. Management is a systematic way of carrying out activities in any field of human effort. Management need to focus more on leadership skills, e.g., establishing vision and goals, communicating the vision and goals, and guiding others to accomplish them. It also assert that leadership must be more facilitative, participative and empowering in how visions and goals are established and carried out. Some people assert that this really isn't a change in the management functions, rather it's re-emphasizing certain aspects of management. Its task is to make people capable of joint performance, to make their weaknesses irrelevant, says the Management Guru Peter Drucker who envisaged social responsibility for the first time. It creates harmony in working together - equilibrium in thoughts and actions, goals and achievements, plans and performance, products and markets. It resolves situations of scarcity, be they in the physical, technical or human fields, through maximum utilization with the minimum available processes to achieve the goal. Lack of management causes disorder, confusion, wastage, delay, destruction and even depression. Managing men, money and materials in the best possible way, according to circumstances and environment, is the most important and essential factor for a successful management

"Billion beats"-to get on to discuss about this idea of our (former) 'first-man', I think one should have a mere generalised attitude. Not to comment more on this paper, but i greatly thank Kalam sir for his thought.
