Educomp Q2 PAT Up 168.97 Per Cent

The basic EPS for the quarter stood at Rs 6.48 as against Rs 3.17 in the year-prior quarter.

Educomp Solutions Ltd, an e-learning enabler and an education process outsourcing (EPO) company, has posted an increase of 128 per cent in its income to Rs 449.4 million for the second quarter for the fiscal year 2007-08, as against Rs 197.1 million in the corresponding quarter last year. While PAT for Q2 went up by 168.97 per cent to Rs 136.1 million from Rs 50.6 million in the year-ago quarter, PBT for the quarter stood at Rs 188.6 million clocking an increase of 145.89 per cent as against Rs 76.7 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

While announcing the Q2 FY08 results, Shantanu Prakash, managing director, Educomp Solutions Ltd, said, "Q2 FY08 has again been an excellent quarter where all our business segments have expanded. The highlight has been the stellar performance of Smart Class, our business segment that caters to the private schools, which has grown an impressive 444.12 per cent YoY. The profit tax margins of the company have also increased to 30.30 per cent which is an increase of over 3.48 per cent compared to 26.82 per cent in FY07."
"The number of schools under ICT segment by FY08 stands at 5,950, and our revised guidance for the year is 8,000 schools, up from 7,000 which was the guidance given in the last quarter. Under Professional Development segment, we have trained over 78,000 teachers in this quarter, taking the cumulative figure to 8,00,000. Other highlights include an agreement with Microsoft to bundle Educomp's digital content with the XBOX 360 platform and with Raffles Insitution and Educomp majority stake in Savvica Inc. and Authorgen Technonlogies Pvt Ltd," he added.
