Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Now, you can have a look and feel of the Dell machines before ordering them, that too unlike other vendors. Here you can customise the machine choosing a configuration you want. Dell has joined hands with Croma, a consumer electronics retailer in India, to make available its laptops and desktops in Croma stores. Beginning in April, you will be able to experience and place a customised order for a wide range of Dell Products at select Croma stores in Mumbai.

“Our primary goal is to create an environment where customers can experience Dell’s award-winning technology first hand. The agreement with Croma will strengthen Dell’s consumer presence in India, making our products more accessible to more customers,” said Michael Tatelman, vice president, sales and marketing, consumer business, Dell. “Our unique format will offer the advantage of Dell’s direct model so that customers can call, click or visit and shop for a built-to-order PC with the latest technology.”

In the past several months, Dell has announced relationships with Carrefour in Europe, Best Buy and Staples in the US and Canada, Courts in Singapore, Gome in China, Bic Camera in Japan, Carphone Warehouse in the UK, DGSi and Tesco in various parts of Europe and Wal-Mart in the US, Canada, Brazil and Mexico, and Argentina.

This announcement marks the first time that Dell Products will be made available in India through a retail outlet in the country. The Dell XPS and Inspiron systems will be available at the Croma stores with distinctive Dell branding and support. This will allow customers to touch, feel and browse Dell products, request for customisations of the said Dell products to suit their specific needs as well as have them home delivered.

“At Infiniti Retail, we are constantly looking at ways in which we can add value to our customers shopping experience. This arrangement with Dell enables us to offer them a unique opportunity to get a taste of Dell’s extensive range of acclaimed products in a premium retail environment for the first time in India,” said Ajit Joshi, CEO and MD, Infiniti Retail. “We are delighted to be the first to partner with Dell and offer its products previously available only direct from the company.”
