Friday, September 26, 2008 Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML), together with Novatium Solutions, has launched the Nova netPC, a thin-client based network computer, at Rs 2,499 and a monthly computing subscription starting at Rs 350. Nova netPC retains most of the functionalities of a typical PC but moves the complexities of software and hardware maintenance and upgrade as well as data security to a central server. Nova netPC is claimed to be the world's first home computing service with a globally patented technology -- DUDM (Desktop Utility Delivery Model).

Nova netPC can be used for both Windows and Linux operating systems and accessing the Internet. Nova netPC also runs local applications using USB peripherals. Nova netPC's server driven delivery feature makes it a free desktop, as all the updates are carried out centrally through the server. As per Novatium, Nova netPC has the technical superiority to match with all software advancements and comes with the simplicity of an appliance. Coupled with its affordability, the Nova netPC is a one-stop computing solution for almost everyone.

Features like parental support make it an ideal choice for families with growing children. Maintenance hassles become a thing of the past with automatic virus scans and other software updates. A low, first- time, investment also makes it the computing solution of choice.

On the launch, Ramesh Iyer, head, enterprise business, Tata Teleservices, said, "TTML's broadband service, powered by Novatium's patented technology, will help take computing to TTML's fixed line customers and democratise access to information. With its wide spread fibre connectivity and infrastructure, TTML hopes to usher in the computing and broadband revolution. The width and the quality of TTML's fibre connectivity in the city of Mumbai and across Maharashtra will substantially enrich the Nova netPC user's experience in accessing the internet and other computing applications."

"Novatium's Nova netPC is an affordable and simple desktop. We have made it very user-friendly so that it can now be operated like any household appliance at the touch of a button. We seek to provide simple and affordable computing for the next generation. We are happy to have Tata Indicom as our partners as their fibre network is unparalleled in the private sector. We are happy to jointly present the Revolution In A Box in Mumbai," shared Alok Singh, CEO, Novatium Solutions.
