Tuesday, September 30, 2008 Novatium Solutions has launched what it claims is a breakthrough service, which will change the face of home computing. The service also delivers entertainment, communication and education on a single window. The service gets delivered over any broadband connection through an access device called the Nova Navigator.

Navigator is a multi OS digital desktop which provides the user with a complete computing experience for the home, which would mean that this one device has the capability to replace all the digital equipment that you use at home today, the company said. Intel, Novell, FX Labs and VDOPIA have joined Novatium to provide a complete digital experience to the end user.

Speaking on the launch, Alok Singh, CEO, Novatium, said, "Navigator would revolutionise the face of computing in the country with the 'world of possibilities' and make it a broader and richer experience. It would provide a bouquet of services and yet it would have the simplicity of an appliance."

This offering is free from upgrades and virus; is easy to navigate and use; and offers an ability to pay for what you use and easy payment mechanisms through Nova Wallet.

Talking about the initiative, A. Raja, cabinet minister, ministry of IT and communications, said, "I am glad that Novatium Solutions, an Indian technology company, has done us proud by taking a step in the right direction. We are a country of over one billion people. We cannot afford to limit the power of technology to a select few. Nova Navigator, through its simple to use and affordable format, enables the common man to use computing in his daily life. This initiative also ties in with the Government of India agenda of increasing broadband penetration in the country. I am glad that now our people can afford to experience the power of technology through the wide range of services given by Novatium- first through netPC and now through Navigator."

According to Sandeep Aurora, director, sales and marketing, Intel South Asia, "Earlier this year, Intel announced the launch of an industry-wide movement called the 'Connected Indians' where government, industry associations and private enterprise have come together for the common cause of connecting a billion Indians to the Internet. This is now being made possible with an emerging class of affordable, Internet-centric mobile computing devices dubbed 'netbooks' and basic Internet-centric desktop PCs dubbed 'nettops', powered by the Intel Atom processor which was built especially for this segment. Devices such as the Atom–powered Nova Navigator from Novatium Solutions will go a long way in addressing the connectivity gap."

S M Talwar from MTNL said, "Our association with Novatium is not a new one. We are glad we are a partnering in Novatium’s initiative to take computing to the masses of India. Navigator is a big step forward in this regard."

The Nova Navigator is currently priced at Rs 5,999 plus taxes with services starting as Rs 100 a month.
