Hewlett-Packard (HP) in partnership with the Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT) has launched ‘HP Software University’ (HPSU). This programme from HP in the non-enterprise training space aims to address the growing demand of software testing professionals in India.

The software testing market in India is expected to grow at a CAGR of 56 per cent to $13 billion by 2010 and with a market share of over 60 per cent in application testing, HP says it is well poised to address the enormous demand for industry-ready talent in software testing.
The programme will offer students accredited training on HP Software and a curriculum path surrounding various testing software from HP like Quick Test professional and LoadRunner. Certified professionals would gain access to special HP Software online resources providing the latest in software news, product information, job openings and more. The university will be initially launched in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Noida, Chennai and Bengaluru and HP has plans to add more cities over the next few months.
Keshava Raju, CEO, IIHT, said, “Keeping in mind the tremendous market for software testing tools, we have partnered with HP, an industry leader in this space. With this programme, our graduates will be equipped with unique skills that will benefit and make them more marketable. We want to expose our students to products and technologies used by leading corporations in the real world.”
“Testing is a $13 billion market today and India is expected to contribute 70 per cent of this market - hence the need for qualified testing professionals. The HP Software University is aimed at providing students a competitive edge in the software testing industry. With HPSU, students and professionals will have access to numerous opportunities in the technology industry,” said Neelam Dhawan, managing director, HP India. “We are delighted to partner with IIHT- a leader in hardware training across the country. With focussed training modules in testing tools, students and corporations alike can be confident that the training they receive has been verified by years of experience in software testing,” she added.
The HP Software University is the only HP authorised programme offering students and professionals the opportunity to attend an official and accredited training on HP Software testing tools.
HPSU provides a combination of classroom lectures and exercises that leverage HP’s software tools and methodologies with students being able to apply the theory to practical situations. Delivered over a period of three months, students have the choice to select a class schedule of evening or weekend sessions, allowing them to study in parallel with existing school or work commitments.
