Friday, July 03, 2009:
D-Link has introduced two KVM switches -- DKVM-4U and DKVM-8E. According to the company, the switches offer cost-effective solution for control of several servers in a computer room, allowing an engineer to handily manipulate all connected computers from a single monitor, keyboard and mouse.
One can switch quickly between the individual client computers by pushing a button on the D-Link KVM switch or by pressing the hot keys on the keyboard.

The KVM switch confirms the switchover with an acoustic signal and has LEDs indicating which PC is currently being served by the console.
A KVM switch is a must for people who need to access many computers - one at a time. It generates a lot of savings directly by eliminating the need to have a dedicated keyboard, video monitor and a mouse for every PC or Server being used. It also saves on space required for so many keyboards, monitors, and mouse. One can manage the same number of servers or PCs in much less space, says the company.
The D-Link KVM switches are available in two, four, eight and 16 port models. The switches have the cascading feature that allows stacking of multiple switches to control up to 128 computers. The IP KVM allows remote access to multiple PCs/Servers over a LAN, WAN or Internet.
DKVM-4U has VGA/SVGA monitor support, USB connection to keyboard and mouse, connects up to four Servers/PCs, PC/Server selection through push button or hot key command and automatic scanning of PCs every 10 seconds.
DKVM-8E allows users to control eight computers from one keyboard, mouse and monitor. Daisy-Chain ports allows control over as many as 64 computers through eight banks of DKVM-8E units. No software required, each channel contains a microprocessor emulation to manage the boot-up process for all your attached PCs boot-up transparently and simultaneously. On-Screen Display menu gives the user a visual interface to name and select computers; and no DIP-switch setting needed and auto detect daisy chain bank. It supports VGA, SVGA and MultiSync monitors at up to 1920 x 1440 resolution. Support for AT type PC with serial mouse ports are included using a mouse conversion technology.
DKVM-4U and DKVM-8E are available at an approximate street price of Rs 4,620 and Rs 13,200, respectively.
