TI OMAP3530 Reference Board Now Includes Support For Linux

L&T Infotech, through its 100 per cent owned subsidiary, GDA Technologies, a global electronics design services and IP provider, has announced the availability of TI OMAP3530-based reference platform in Linux, WinCE and Android flavours.

The custom TI OMAP3530 reference board is targeted at OEMs developing products such as mobile TV solutions, portable media players (PMP), personal navigation devices (PND), mobile Internet devices (MID) and portable gaming devices, etc.
“Our reference board solution allows OEMs to prototype and validates their innovative product designs across various mobile operating systems. To enable faster time to market for our clients, we also offer application support and product development and validation consulting services,” said Isaac Sundarajan, executive vice president, product engineering services, L&T Infotech.
"TI’s OMAP3530 processor offers unprecedented performance at handheld power levels as well as multimedia-rich features including OPENGL ES compatible graphics engine and video accelerators. We are confident that L&T Infotech's reference board solution will inspire sleek, optimised and innovative designs across multiple platforms," added Praveen K Ganapathy, director, business development, Texas Instruments India.
The TI OMAP3530 application processor includes ARM Cortex-A8 operating at max speed of 600MHz and C64x+ DSP operating at max speed of 430MHz. The processor is designed to be used in rich multimedia-featured handsets, high performance PDA, Video capturing for 2G and 3G wireless terminals, navigation device, mobile TV, mobile gaming and video conferencing applications.
The TI OMAP3530 reference platform features include 4.3” TFT LCD touch screen (480 x 272 QVGA), 128MB DDR II memory, 256MB Nand flash, 1.8” CE-ATA hard disk, VGA camera, DVB-H receiver, GPS module, FM tuner, USB 2.0 Host and OTG support, connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth), speaker, mic and head set and 3 x 3 matrix key board.
The reference platform also has micro-SD slot, which can be used for WiMAX connectivity required for MID functionality. It can be battery operated with 3.7V, 1AH Li-on battery and provides a close-to-product form factor, comes very handy for the development community to enable easy demonstration of their application in the hardware. The TI OMAP3530 reference platform includes support for Linux, WinCE 6.0 and Android 1.1 Board Support Package (BSP).
