Defiance, an engineering services provider and part of the Hinduja Group, has planned to expand beyond design and engineering, to manufacturing and enterprise solutions. Defiance Tech has appointed Subu D Subramanian as its chief executive officer.

Sumantran, chairman, Defiance Tech and executive vice chairman, Hinduja Automotive Limited, said, "For the group, it has been our vision to expand our capabilities in product development and manufacturing, to become a global engineering and technology services provider. Through Defiance, we have established ourselves as a significant global player in automotive testing and engineering services."
"We now intend to expand the scope of operations of Defiance beyond engineering to technology-enabled manufacturing and enterprise solutions. The other dimension of growth we are seeking is to serve customers beyond automotive to other industry verticals including aerospace and defense," added Sumantran.
Commenting on the appointment, Subu D Subramanian said, "I am excited and feel privileged to be associated with the Hinduja Group. Defiance has robust capability in the automotive testing and engineering services space, good customer base and a global footprint and infrastructure. While India has done well in the IT services space, the engineering services space is yet to be fully tapped. With the right engineering services capability combined with the right domain expertise, Defiance is poised to uniquely address this opportunity."
Subu was until recently senior vice president at Satyam Computer Services Ltd, heading the manufacturing and automotive vertical. Prior to Satyam, Subu held several senior leadership positions in TCS.
