Will Apple iPad Make Big Impact In India?

Steve Jobs touted Apple's widely anticipated tablet PC, the iPad, as a magic and revolutionary device that would fill the gap between smartphones and laptops. But the device is likely to have very little impact in India, analysts predict. Analysts feel the Kindle killer won't eat into the sales of PCs and laptops in India, though it could have a significant impact in the education sector. Also the prospect of it immediately transforming industries such as book publishing or newspapers is rather remote, reports The Economic Times. According to Rajiv Beri, MD, Macmillan Publishers India, "Factors such as scarce availability of low-cost e-books, preference for printed books and the iPad’s cost may lead to low adoption."
