DRDO Announces Students' Robotics Competition  
 
Third and fourth year students of Engineering colleges and institutions in India can participate.

Wednesday, March 03, 2010 DRDO is conducting a national level competition to harness the innovative ideas of Student community to the National Robotics Program of India. Participants need to build an autonomous off road robotic platform which can navigate a rough terrain and avoid natural and man made obstacles in the shortest amount of time.





The aim of this competition is to build an autonomous off road robotic platform which can navigate a rough terrain and avoid natural and man made obstacles in the shortest amount of time.

The competition will be conducted in two stages -- Preliminary Design stage --where a committee of experts will evaluate the proposals from the point of view of approach to the problem, innovation, originality, technical feasibility etc. and -- Prototype stage-- where ten best design solutions from Stage I of the competition need to be demonstrated with prototypes.

Those models which qualify Stage I will receive Rs 1,00,000 each (Total Rs 10,00,000/-). Winners of Stage II will receive Rs 2,00,000.

Last Date for submission of Stage I entries is 31 Mar 2010. Final competition will be held on 27 – 29 Sep 2010.For more information visit http://www.drdo.gov.in/scomp2010/index.html.
