Today, most businesses maintain an account with one or many banks. The volume of business varies from firm to firm. The higher the volume of business, the more the number of transactions with bank(s) and other agencies, and vice versa. When the volume of business is high, manually writing cheques is time consuming and prone to errors. Many a time, accountants end up overwriting cheques. The Reserve Bank of India, in a recent notification, has prohibited any individual or business from overwriting or striking off details on cheques.

The banking module of Tally.ERP 9 Release 3.0 has made complying with this requirement, easier, as it allows you to effortlessly print cheques.
How to print cheques on your Tally.ERP 9
For printing cheques, the standard dimensions (in millimetres) of cheques are made available by default in the Tally.ERP 9 system. In case the dimensions of the cheques used by your company differ from the standard cheque dimensions (given as the default dimensions), make the required changes in the parameters before saving the feature.
Configuring ‘Cheque printing’
Cheque printing can be configured by following any one of the following steps:
• Creating/altering the ‘Bank Ledger’ feature of the banking module

• F11: Features > Accounting Features
• Enable the option ‘Set/Alter Cheque Printing Configuration’
• In the ‘Name of Banks’ field, select the required bank from the ‘Bank Accounts’ option. The ‘Cheque Dimensions’ screen appears
• Click ‘C: Copy From’ or press ‘Ctrl+C’ The ‘Select Configured Bank’ screen appears
• Select ‘Sample Format’ from ‘List of Configured Banks’ option.
