In an e-mail interview with Sajjan Kumar, vice president, Imaging-Nikon India, he said, "These new models are not just good-looking, but also offer outstanding reliability and great performance. Talking about the digital camera market in India, he commented, "The compact digital camera market today has grown from 2.4 million units to 3.2 million units this year, which translates to over 30 per cent growth, this year alone. We see this trend to continue for the next few years and an increase in demand coming from the Tier II and Tier III markets for Nikon cameras. We currently have a 25 per cent market share in Compact segment and with this announcement, we hope to have increased that to 30 per cent in the financial Year 2012-2013."

The new Nikon COOLPIX cameras cater to a wide range of customers. Kumar said, "The new COOLPIX range offers fun and colorful photography experience through devices that are compact, stylish and easy to use. It combines affordability and convenience with performance and versatility that are ideal for the modern, fast-paced and connected family. Perfect for any type of family adventure, the COOLPIX spring series line-up offers a simple, convenient and fun way to capture great photos and HD movies with ease.”

The L-Series Digital Compact Cameras are said to be ideal for the modern, fast-paced and connected family. The S-series COOLPIX cameras- COOLPIX S9300, S9200, S6300, S4300, S3300, S2600 and S30 help users capture memories with advanced features including extraordinary low-light capabilities, powerful optics and HD video recording with full stereo sound. Whereas, the P-series targets the photographers as it is equipped with full-scale photographic capabilities.

Last few months have been good for Nikon India. Kumar added, "Apart from the 13 models introduced in the COOLPIX Spring Summer’12 collection, we recently introduced a new category in the industry with the launch of the Nikon 1 series last month. The iconic new Nikon 1 system is designed to become one with the user and their lifestyle, providing a unique form of expression with amazing image quality, speed and portability. On the D-SLR front we have also announced the much awaited unveiling of Nikon D4, D800 and D800E.”

All these 13 COOLPIX camera models are available across India with an exception of COOLPIX L310.
