Close on the heels of unveiling its new global BPO capability, Global Services - Serco, a leading FTSE 100 international services company today announced parternship with Income Tax Department in providing services to taxpayers’ across India. Serco will provide services to tax payers’ across the country under the aegis of Aayakar Sampark Kendra (ASK) located at Gurgaon, Jammu, Kochi, Jangipur (WB) and Shillong. Aayakar Sampark Kendra(ASK) services were dedicated to the citizens of India from Jangipur (West Bengal) center on 14 April by Honourable Finance Minister Shri. Pranab Mukherjee.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Pranab Mukherjee said, "It was a great pleasure to formally inaugurate Aaykar Sampark Kendra regional centre at Jangipur. I wish all concerned the very best. Happy Bengali New Year."
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Bhupender Singh, CEO, AMEAA, Global Services, Serco, remarked, “We are delighted to partner with the Income Tax Department and assist them in their e-governance efforts. The association with Serco will help the government to expedite the dissemination of information pertaining core activities related to taxpayer information and grievance redressal. It strives to build operational efficiencies and improve service delivery to citizens.”
Aaykar Sampark Kendra (ASK) will provide access to information on various aspects of Income Tax and other Direct Taxes of India such as Income Tax Returns, Wealth Tax Returns, PAN/TAN applications, payment of taxes, efiling of IT returns, Refund Banker, Income Tax Procedures etc. It will register grievances via telephone and email, assist in getting them resolved in specified timeframes, provide inbound and outbound customer services, and offer multi-lingual support in all regional languages besides Hindi and English.
“Given our strengths in servicing the public and private sector worldwide, this collaboration strengthens our presence in the government vertical. We have set up centres in several non-metro locations and are seeing significant traction in West Bengal with over 1,000 people employed in the region. The opening of this delivery centre further reinforces our commitment to provide end-to-end services to customers in the domestic Indian BPO market with improved innovation and efficiency,” added Mr. Singh.
Serco enjoys a predominant position in the domestic Indian market employing over 30,000 people and currently has client relationships with leading multinational companies across telecom, banking, insurance, consumer durables, retail, media, aviation & public sectors. According to NASSCOM, the domestic IT-BPO market is expected to grow 17 per cent to reach Rs 91,800 crore in FY2012. The domestic BPO market is expected to reach Rs 14,900 crore, driven by demand from voice-based services (local languages) and increased adoption by both traditional and emerging verticals, including the government.
