We earlier reported that the social networking giant has added the read receipt feature to its Facebook Messenger for iOS and Android. Well, if that was not enough to invade your privacy, where you can no more ignore chats pretending not having read them- now the one you are chatting with can even retrieve your location.

With this latest update, users can get location data of persons with whom they are chatting on Facebook Messenger. For this, users have to press on the GPS icon, which looks crosshair like, while messaging and you will get the location co-ordinates of the person on the opposite end of chat. But, there is a catch. To enable this, the user at the other end has to activate and use location based services on his mobile.
Along with the read receipt feature, users can also tell if the person is chatting through PC or mobile. This new updated app can be downloaded from the App store- App Store and Google Play respectively. These new slew of features are making the FB chat as close to BlackBerry Messenger and Apple iMessage.
