Friday, May 18, 2012:
BPO Association of India, along with Bharati.co BPO and World BPO forum, will organise 26 Bharati.co BPO conferences in 26 cities across India. The idea of these conferences is to shift the focus of the BPO industry to the Tier II and Tier III towns of the country and create awareness about the benefits beyond Tier I cities. The conferences would aim at in-depth analysis of the current situation of BPO industry in India.
Speaking about the purpose of the conferences, Manan Vashisht, senior vice president, Bharatico Infomedia Ltd, said, "It will be an opportunity to bring the leading thinkers from the IT/BPO industry where they can share and brainstorm on how Indian BPO players can reduce their operational cost by 25-30 per cent by moving to Tier II and III cities and leverage the rise of domestic BPO industry in India."

Commenting on the need to grow in Tier II and Tier III cities, Mohit Saxena, senior vice president- operations, said, "Tier I cities are reaching to a saturation point. So one really doesn't have a choice but to move to the Tier II and Tier III cities. Moreover, the cost of establishing a facility in Tier I city is getting increasingly high. Many global companies moved to India for outsourcing because of the cost factor. With such increasing costs, the sheer purpose of outsourcing in India will be lost. So, we have no choice but to move to cheaper options, which are the Tier II and Tier III cities."
The first conference in the series begins in New Delhi. It will be followed in cities like Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Ranchi, Lucknow, Bhopal, Agra, Bhubaneshwar, Shimla, Pune, etc. These organisations also announced the institution of BPO awards. Sandeep Jain, president of the BPO Association of India (BAI) announcing the BPO awards said, “We have instituted the Bharati.co BPO awards 2012 in various categories to honour and applaud excellence among the BPO community. These awards have been so designed, that they will bring to limelight every individual who has helped in the growth of the BPO industry.”
The BPO awards are being planned for September 2012 and they involve nearly 30 categories, which include BPO company of the year (domestic / international), emerging company of the year, bpo employer of the year, ceo of the year, fun at work award, Operational Excellence And Quality Award Of The Year (Domestic / International), Best help desk services award, Award for professional excellence of the year, Best new BPO locator of the year, Technology award of the year ( Domestic / International) among a host of others.
