Saturday, May 19, 2012 Logitech's future plans are in place and the company sees great potential in wireless peripherals for PCs and laptops, which give consumers the freedom to move around and cut the clutter on desk. Excerpts from the interview:

Q How does Logitech plan to place its products in the rapidly growing Indian tablet market?

A Tablets have transformed the way people interact with digital content, letting them enjoy music, movies, games, social channels, photos and more, no matter where they are. Logitech is creating a line-up of tablet accessories for iPad and Android-based devices, creating a new category for the company. Logitech’s line-up of tablet products draw on our heritage in the peripherals space while adding new twists for the tablet era. We have everything from keyboards to cases and stands that help people adapt their spaces to extend their tablet experience into their environment.

Logitech currently has 3 models of tablet keyboards in India: Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2, Logitech Tablet Keyboard for iPad and Logitech Tablet Keyboard (for Android tablets). All three Logitech tablet keyboards can hold the device in either landscape or portrait position. The Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad 2 charges over USB and pairs quickly using Bluetooth. The Tablet Keyboards for iPad and Android both provide Bluetooth pairing up to 30 feet of the device, provide media controls to manage your music and entertainment and can adjust to a sturdy stand that's adjustable to your preferred angle.

Q Which all screen sizes does your tablet keyboards support and what are the connectivity options?

A Logitech Tablet Keyboard supports various tablet sizes, from 7.0 inches to 10.1 inches. All Logitech tablet keyboards are Bluetooth enabled and they pair with your tablet easily and quickly.

Q Which are the other areas of Logitech's operations?

A Apart from tablet keyboards, Logitech has a vast range of keyboards and mice in both wired and wireless configurations; this is an area of robust growth for us.

We continue to see great potential in wireless peripherals for PCs and laptops, which give consumers the freedom to move around and cut the clutter on desk. Logitech’s wireless product portfolio includes a range of mice and keyboards with advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology and Logitech Unifying technology, which allows pairing of up to six compatible Logitech wireless keyboards and mice with one receiver.

Q Any news about latest products from the company?

A Logitech recently launched the Logitech Touch Mouse M600, which is a part of Logitech's wireless portfolio. Logitech Touch Mouse M600 features a touch surface and lets users navigate intuitively with their fingers. It also lets users scroll, swipe and surf wherever their fingertips rest on the mouse. The mouse has been ergonomically designed and is comfortable to hold.

Another device that is creating buzz in the market right now is the Logitech Mini Boombox – a portable speaker that can be paired with your iPad, iPhone, iPod or any other Bluetooth enabled device. The Mini Boombox delivers great sound with enhanced bass and can play up to 10 straight hours of music. The Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 is also a product we are excited about. This keyboard connects wirelessly to your laptop or HTPC using a tiny USB receiver. The keyboard is very comfortable to type on and the touchpad is responsive and even supports using two fingers for scrolling.

Q Can you share some details about the company's market share in India ?

A The digital accessory industry is very dynamic, where consumer behaviour or expectations shape technology innovation. Companies which truly understand their customers can anticipate this change in advance and will be in a position to lead the innovation curve. Logitech has a long history of introducing innovative products which provide true consumer benefits, like the track-on-glass mouse and light-powered keyboard. With this spirit, Logitech strives to stay at the forefront of innovation and this differentiates us from the rest.

Today, Logitech is offering a complete range of products to capture the market opportunities brought by trends like growing broadband penetration, social media, and increasing consumption of audio and video content. Making the products – wireless mice and keyboards, HD webcams, digital speakers for PC, iPod, smartphones and tablets, universal remote controls, noise-isolating earphones, etc. – widely available and at an affordable price, will strengthen Logitech’s leadership position as a technology provider to enhance consumers’ digital experience.
