Tuesday, June 26, 2012:
MySQL database that executes 3,500 queries per second is no way closer to the new database named ‘MemSQL’ created by two Facebook developers, Eric Frenkiel and Nikita Shamgunov. The MemSQL stands out to be the world's fastest database, which can execute 80,000 queries per second. The developers have learned to create a SQL code while handling the massive traffic that Facebook generated.
The SQL code gets translated into C++ automatically without any SQL interpreter, that generally slows the process. It is completely based on memory, hence the name MemSQL. The code writes back to disk/SSD as soon as the transaction is received in memory and it secures the data by using a integrated write-ahead logging and snapshotting technique.

It is fully compatible with MySQL. Both MemSQL and MySQL can be connected to achieve terabyte-scale workloads. The developer edition is free and is limited to 10GB. MemSQL runs on any 64-bit Linux system. It is well suited for multi-core processor machines which has at least 8 GB of RAM.
