Google Donates $300K To Open Source Lab

It is noteworthy that this is not Google’s first donation for the cause.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012:
Google has donated a total of $300,000 to the Oregon State University (OSU) to help them work on their open source development programs. OSU is a body that offers varied hosting services and supports a range of organisations that are working upon the open source platform.
|
|
Organisations like The Apache Software Foundation, BusyBox, CentOS, Debian Linux, Fedora, Eclipse as well as the Linux Foundation use Open Source in a big way and have showed good results in the education, government and the healthcare sector.
It is noteworthy that this is not Google’s first donation for the cause. The search giant has been making its presence felt by means of donations for the last nine years. As a matter of fact, OSU has also gained huge benefit through the various philanthropic activities that Google undertakes.
Moreover, with the latest donation from Google, the total monetary support from Google for OSU has crossed the 2 million dollars mark.
