Get 100 Per Cent Traceable Semicon Components Direct!

SAN JOSE, USA: Components Direct, the premier factory-authorized source for excess and end-of-life semiconductor components, announced the introduction of componentsdirect.com, an e-commerce website offering in-stock availability and guaranteeing 100 per cent direct traceability from the original manufacturers.

Wednesday, June 27, 2012 The company's manufacturer-direct model and certified distribution organization offers the best protection against the risks associated with counterfeit and obsolete parts.

According to research firm IHS, more than 12 million parts have been involved in global counterfeit incidents in the past five years, with obsolete or end-of-life parts accounting for over 50 per cent of counterfeits.

Counterfeit parts cost businesses and governments billions of dollars every year and pose a safety and security threat to mission-critical industries such as aerospace and defense. IHS also found that a single obsolete part can cause as much as 64 weeks of down time and over $2 million to resolve.

"Components Direct ensures that engineers and supply chain professionals now have a trusted, one-stop shop for all their excess and end-of-life components needs," said Tom Lacey, chairman and CEO at Components Direct. "Our direct relationship with manufacturers enables us to provide a reliable online distribution source for authentic, manufacturer-original semiconductor components."

"Components Direct plays a pivotal role within the supply chain and in the fight against counterfeit components through its focus on direct lineage and 100 per cent guaranteed traceable components," said Chris Henry, VP of Sales Operations at Xilinx. "Xilinx is extremely pleased to have Components Direct as an authorized channel for our excess and end-of-life components."

As lifecycles for components become shorter, manufacturers are seeking new distribution channels that enable them to meet the demand for end-of-life parts while they focus their own sales efforts on newer technologies. Components Direct possesses several competitive advantages that appeal to both supplier partners and end buyer customers:

* Contractually authorized to sell products from leading manufacturers including Marvell, Maxim, Micrel, NVIDIA, PMC-Sierra, Xilinx, and more, providing customers a diverse and comprehensive selection of semiconductor components.

* 100 per cent direct traceability from the original manufacturer and no reproductions from a die bank, customers in mission-critical sectors such as defense and aerospace never need to settle for secondary imitations.

* Member of the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA); ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004, ESD 20.20, and IEC 61340-5-1 certified.

* A searchable inventory of a wide variety of parts, and an intuitive, easy-to-use ordering interface. In addition, telephone support and a knowledgeable direct sales organization enable customers to place orders by the method that is most convenient to them.

"As an extension of the manufacturer, Components Direct provides the supply chain buyer with complete confidence and peace of mind that all products originate directly from the manufacturer and have been properly stored, handled and packaged," said Angel Mendez, senior VP of Cisco Transformation. "Sourcing from an authorized source like Components Direct eliminates the risks surrounding product quality, reliability and liability."

"It is our top priority to provide customers with a satisfying purchase experience that exceeds their expectations, while adhering to the high quality and strong reputations of our original manufacturer partners," said Steve Martin, executive VP of Sales at Components Direct. "Components Direct is the premier destination for anyone looking for authorized, reliable and 100 per cent traceable components."
