Saturday, June 30, 2012:
Marvell announced that the ARMADA 1500-powered Google TV devices passed Google's certification process. At the core of an increasing number of connected-home products, Marvell is determined to bring powerful and energy efficient devices at an attractive price point for consumers to enjoy.
Powerful, energy-efficient, ultra-scalable and immensely affordable, the ARMADA 1500 is the first ARM-based platform, being used by multiple OEMs, certified for Google TV. The chipset contains Marvell's highest-performing ARM v7 -compatible PJ4B SMP super-scalar dual-core CPU and is designed to enable PC-like processing power to support Web browsing with support for Flash and other key technologies – with the aid of more than 6000 Dhrystone MIPS of computing horsepower, FPU v3.0, 512KB of L2 cache and Neon.

The ARMADA 1500 also contains Marvell's award-winning Qdeo video processing for state-of-the-art HD and 3D video, including scaling, noise reduction, de-interlacing, low bit-rate Internet video enhancement and color/contrast enhancement. The chip offers VMeta, a multi-format video decoder/encoder/transcoder that can decode up to two simultaneous 1080p streams as well as a host of other video formats and containers. These features make the ARAMDA 1500 ideal for connected home devices, which require tremendous processing power for numerous applications at a cost effective price point.
Weili Dai, co-founder, Marvell, said: “Marvell, as the key leader to drive the new era of the digital lifestyle, provides the end-to-end silicon solutions for all three key platforms from mobile devices to smart TV to the cloud infrastructure. I am very excited and proud to see the successful launch of the new generation Google TV that enables our OEM customers to deliver high performance, low power, and cost-effective products to the market. I would like to thank Google and all of our partners – along with all of our very talented engineers – for their hard work and outstanding collaboration in developing the advanced technology that brings the live and interactive content to the living room.”
Vincent Dureau, TV technology head, Google TV, said, “We're very proud of the work the Google and Marvell teams have been doing to bring our combined technologies to market and grow the Google TV ecosystem.”
