Thursday, July 05, 2012:
With the increasing demand for mobility in the Indian SMB sector, Hewlett-Packard, HP, today announced new mobile IT infrastructure to equip small and medium-sized businesses of the range of 10 to 1000 employees for the upcoming Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment. New offerings from HP include technology solutions and services, as well as training programs that enable resource-challenged SMBs to simplify IT while enhancing collaboration in an increasingly mobile world.
The HP Client Virtualization SMB Reference Architecture for Microsoft VDI improves security with HP Client Virtualization SMB virtual desktop solution. The solution includes reference architecture such as HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers and client virtualisation software from Citrix, Microsoft or VMware which will protect company data by storing user profiles and data on a centralised server.

"The new generation of workforce is mainly recruited by SMBs, so, we at HP feel that Indian companies should prepare themselves accordingly to retain the young work force. Today's generation use tablets, smartphones and are hooked to social networking all day long so upgrading to cloud and BYOD from desktop PCs is necessary to boost productivity and improve business skills of the employees,” said Prakash Krishnamoorthy, country manager, networking, HP.
According to Gartner research, by 2016, at least 50 per cent of business e-mail users will rely primarily on a tablet or mobile client instead of a traditional desktop. The trend to use personal devices to access e-mail and other business data requires SMBs to prepare their infrastructures to support increased mobility.
“India is a country which has the largest number of small and medium businesses (SMBs). The SMBs today are the enterprise leaders of tomorrow. HP has always focused in this segment which is full of potential and is growth hungry. Indian SMBs are absorbing mobility at a rapid rate. In the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment, employee brings their personal tablets, smartphone to office to work, so SMB should gear up and prepare themselves to face the upcoming work trends,” said Krishnamoorthy.
The HP Client Virtualization SMB Reference Architecture for Microsoft VDI is scheduled to be available in September. All other solutions and services are available now through HP and worldwide channel partners.
