While online shopping is definitely comfortable as it saves you the extra travel time and roaming, but when it comes to apparels, many are still not too confident about buying clothes online. The deal with clothes is that you want to try them on and see how they look on you. Solving this problem, a start-up has developed Mirror.ly. This new application will provide virtual fitting rooms for online retail stores.

Mirror.ly will first be made available in-store at partner retailers on digital display and will thereby be released on the Web and iOS platforms. The way Mirror.ly works is by taking a full-body scan of a consumer to produce a life-size virtual image of their body, just like a mirror.
Mirror.ly lets you try on clothes by a simple swipe of hand. Users can view a 3D model of how the clothes would look on them, in terms of fitting, look, and movement of the cloth. Mirror.ly will be especially advantageous for retailers as they can up-sell their products by advertising pre-selected styles for user.
While not much is known about the app, it is speculated that it will be employing Kinect’s body and gesture recognition technology. It will available for a flat set-up fee for the retailer with a fixed commission on sales.
