Friday, August 03, 2012:
Concerns of a global economic crunch and rising inflationary pressures are acting as a caution sign for India Inc. A survey conducted by Naukri.com with 1000+ recruiters across India revealed a dip in hiring sentiment across sectors. A similar survey last year showed that 80% recruiters had anticipated addition of new jobs in 2011, while this year only 62% recruiters have said that new jobs will be created in the second half of 2012.

84% recruiters predicted that jobs will be created for the entry (1-3 years) and mid level (4-7) category.
Ambarish Raghuvanshi, Chief Financial Officer, Info Edge India said, “As we witness deceleration in the economy, hiring intentions have also witnessed a more muted outlook. The drop in the overall hiring sentiment indicates that recruiters have factored in most of the bad news. Hiring sentiment is closely co- related to business confidence, which has dipped considerably. However, talented employees continue to be at a premium and finding and retaining them continues to be a challenge for recruiters.”
Attrition has always been an area of concern for recruiters. However, the low economic sentiment and decline in new job opportunities has made employees cautious about changing jobs. Recruiters are also echoing the same sentiment with almost 60% saying that attrition level in their organization is less than 10%.
The survey also revealed the increments organizations gave out to their employees in 2012. About 40% recruiters said that the range was between 10% and 15% and 26% said increments were within the range of 5% and 10%. This is almost in line with what was predicted by recruiters in the beginning of the year.
The widening gap between demand and supply for talented workers has become a major cause of worry. 72% of recruiters who took the survey said that talent crunch has intensified over the last few months. 44% of respondents said that the maximum talent crunch was witnessed in the 4-8years experience bracket.
Methodology: The Naukri Hiring Outlook survey is conducted twice a year to gauge the hiring trends across sectors. This gives a clear outlook about the employment opportunities in the market and throws light on increments, job opportunities and attrition levels. It is a half-yearly e-mail survey which is sent out to the registered clients of Naukri.com. The results are compiled using statistical and analytical techniques.
