Saturday, January 19, 2013:
Almost one year has passed since the launch of Raspberry Pi and more than half a million Raspberry Pi computers have rolled off the element14 production line. Element 14 has signed a distribution deal with The Raspberry Pi to sell the credit-card sized computer around the world.
“We honestly did think we would sell about 1,000, maybe 10,000 in our wildest dreams,” said Eben Upton, founder, The Raspberry Pi Foundation in a ZDNet report. “We thought we would make a small number and give them out to people who might want to come and read computer science at Cambridge.” Upton also revealed that the foundation has no plans as of now to introduce a sequel to the latest Raspberry Pi Model B in 2013.
