The system connects 11 locations spread across Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology in Rajasthan. The farmers are now using video conferencing to procure good quality seeds, fertilisers and for others inputs. These systems also help them access market-related information and most importantly market their products in a better way.
The vice chancellor of the University of Agriculture & Technology, Rajasthan, talks about the benefits the system brings forth, “We use this facility to share information with trainees, farmers and educating staff in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, agriculture engineering, Laghu Udyog and so on.”
He adds that there are at least five farmers visiting the KVKs everyday. “These farmers pose their problems to the KVK heads. If it cannot be solved at that level, they simply use the video conferencing facility to get expert advice rather than travelling all the way to Udaipur.”
The students will make use of the two-way Aethra videoconferencing system distantly seeking education in crafts such as stitching and knitting. Intellicon installed the latest offering from Aethra i.e. Vega X series products to MPUT for this application, with highest quality crystal clear audio and superior video quality at 4 mpbs. MPUT is looking at this facility as helping them meet their objectives in extending all possible assistance to farmers and self-employment in rural and sub urban areas. |
