Tuesday, April 08, 2008:  Ingres Corporation, a provider of open source database management software, and Italy-based Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, creator of the open source SpagoBI platform and BPM conseil, have announced the completion of a technological partnership. As part of the agreement, the duo certified each other's products in order to strengthen their open source business intelligence solutions at the enterprise level.
"The partnership opens new perspectives for both Ingres and SpagoBI," said Grazia Cazzin, SpagoBI team leader. "By using SpagoBI, users of Ingres will increase their OS stack with a certified environment. On the other side, Ingres could be a new opportunity for SpagoBI users who want to evaluate and adopt a strong open source database. Collaboration in certifying the shared environment is just the first step."

Besides satisfying the traditional analysis requirements (reporting, multidimensional analysis - OLAP - dashboard, data mining, free inquiry), SpagoBI develops original modules specifically oriented to support collaboration between users and the enrichment of information (geo-referenced analysis, graphical presentation, analytical dossier, free notes). With its modular approach and open standard adoption, users can create a flexible and practical business intelligence platform that meets their specific needs.

"This collaboration will go beyond enforcing Engineering's role in promoting and supporting open source solutions in the Italian and wider European markets and will extend to the database domain," said Gabriele Ruffatti, architectures and consulting director, research and innovation division, Engineering Ingegneria Informatica.

According to Fred Gallagher, vice president, business development, Ingres, "The combination of our mission-critical open source database, along with SpagoBI's expertise in business intelligence, makes this a win-win for both companies and our joint customers. We look forward to working further with the SpagoBI team to deliver ongoing value to our customers."
