Dr Madhusudan V. Atre has held high level positions over the past 18 years at Texas Instruments, Lucent Technologies and Agere Systems.

Monday, April 21, 2008:  Applied Materials, Inc. has appointed Dr Madhusudan V. Atre as president of Applied Materials India, responsible for strategy and operations throughout India. Dr Atre will oversee alignment, coordination and execution of all business and operational activities in the region. Dr Atre most recently served as vice president and managing director of LSI India operations, part of LSI Corporation.
“We are pleased to have someone of Madhu’s reputation and experience join us in India,” said Franz Janker, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Applied Materials. “In addition to playing an important product development role in our semiconductor business, India is also a fast-growing market for solar, and we will continue to enhance our capabilities in the country.”

Prior to LSI India, Dr Atre held high level positions over the past 18 years at Texas Instruments, Lucent Technologies and Agere Systems. Dr Atre has played a significant role as a founding executive council member of the Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) and has been nominated as the association’s leader of the Technology Special Interest Group, where he is working to identify and drive key technology initiatives.

Dr Atre earned his M.Sc. (five-year integrated) in Physics from IIT-Bombay. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from IISc-Bangalore.
