Drupal is an open source free software package (content management framework) that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organise a wide variety of content i.e. text, image, videos etc. directly on a website. It is registered under GPL (General Public Licence). Drupal has been making inroads into many organisations such as NASA, IBM, SUN, CISCO etc.
Drupal Camp '08 would provide a platform for all Drupal enthusiasts, companies providing Drupal services and IT professionals to come together and exchange their views about Drupal and help promote Drupal in Indian markets. One key goal is to help spreading Drupal awareness amongst students and IT professionals by providing a medium to have a healthy interaction with active Drupalers.
Different events have been lined up for audiences: Drupal Track - for core Drupal programmers; Student Track - for students - Neophytes; Marketing Track - for corporates, governmental agencies; Job Fair - where local and international companies can recruit prospective employees; and Code Sprint - a short development project on Drupal.
Gloscon Solutions, Inc., a Canada-based Drupal services company, is tying up with different software companies and industry associations towards the organising of this event. GLOSCON is one of the largest Drupal-focussed companies in India. Apart from contributing many modules back to the Drupal community, GLOSCON has contributed the 'Gujarati' release of Drupal - first amongst all Indian languages.
