Indian Wireless Market Up By 11.75 Per Cent Indian Wireless Market Up By 11.75 Per Cent
 
In the March 2008 quarter, the ARPU for GSM segment has increased by 1.15 per cent; whereas the ARPU has decreased for CDMA segment, as compared to the December 2007 quarter.

Saturday, July 05, 2008:  The total subscriber base of the wireline and wireless services has reached 300.48 million for the quarter ending March 2008, as against 272.87 million for quarter ending December 2007, thus registering an increase of 10.12 per cent during the quarter. According to the TRAI report, the tele-density for this quarter reached 26.22.
According to the report, the subscriber base for wireless services has reached 261.07 million for the quarter ending March 2008, as compared to 233.62 million for quarter ending December 2007. And, subscriber base of wireline service has increased from 39.25 million to 39.41 million for this quarter.

Rural wireline subscriber base has decreased from 11.75 million for the quarter ending December 2007 to 11.64 million for the March 2008 quarter, thus showing a negative growth of 0.94 per cent.

The average revenue per user (ARPU) for GSM segment has increased by 1.15 per cent from Rs 261 in December 2007 to Rs 264 in March 2008. Showing negative growth for CDMA segment, all India ARPU (per month) for the quarter ending March 2008 is Rs 159 and compared to Rs 176 for December 2007.
