Monday, September 15, 2008:  Delta, a provider of switching power supplies and DC brushless fans, has launched its first green factory at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. The company said the new eco-friendly factory reinforces its mission "to provide innovative, clean and efficient energy solutions for a better tomorrow."
Delta's Rudrapur factory spans 16657.48 square meters of manufacturing space and will manufacture products for power management, display solutions, components, industrial automation and automotive electronics. It is Delta's first green factory in India that incorporates eco-friendly energy saving practices and waste management system.

Yancey Hai, vice chairman and chief executive officer, Delta Electronics, Inc., commented, "Our new green factory in India is an important project for Delta. It not only supports Delta's green mission, but it also presents a significant opportunity for our strong growth in India. Delta is well positioned to help this dynamic economy with the latest power management solutions across industries. We are committed to providing energy efficient solutions as well as being environmentally conscious by reducing wastes and carbon emissions across the world."

The Rudrapur green factory is registered with the Indian Green Building Council and is aiming for the highest green building accreditation. Delta has made use of various energy efficient technologies like Natural Light Harvesting, Turbo Ventilation and the use of solar panels. The power factor controller saves electric energy by maintaining the power factor at 0.99 instead of 0.85. The linear panel polynum insulation saves electric energy due to minimum requirement of forced cooling. The Sewage Treatment Plant has been put up to recycle and reuse water. It functions on Anaerobic Bacterial action and the water is used for non-contact applications. Storm water harvesting is also carried out to conserve water.

"As a result of this operation, we also anticipate substantial job growth in engineering and manufacturing, facility maintenance, delivery and administration," added Dalip Sharma, managing director, Delta Electronics (India).
