Thursday, November 20, 2008:  NVIDIA Corporation has felicitated Prof. P.J Narayanan, professor, dean (R&D) and head of the Center of Visual Information Technology, IIIT Hyderabad, with the CUDA fellowship award for his early and innovative work on massively parallel computing with CUDA.
NVIDIA commits to donate significant amount of equipment innsupport of his lab and a research grant of $25000 for carrying further his innovative research with CUDA over the next year.

"I am pleased to be a CUDA Faculty Fellow. It is indeed an honour to be the first such fellow. Our group has been working with Nvidia for over two years. Our work owes a lot to their continued support in the past. I am very excited about the prospect of working with NVIDIA in the future. We have used NVIDIA GPUs for many graphics tasks as well as for non-graphics tasks. The CUDA technology on the GPUs holds a great promise as a high-performance co-processor. At CVIT, IIIT, Hyderabad, we will continue our work on these areas on the GPUs. We will also expand into problems with high computing and visualization needs, such as indexing and searching of video archives and geographic information systems," said Prof. Narayanan.
