Friday, June 20, 2008:
Kanpur-based IAITO Infotech has launched (patent pending) UHF RFID reader integrated with sensor network approach (IEEE 802.15.4 protocol), which has been branded as 'TRAKTAG'. TRAKTAG can solve several problems in setting up the networks (LAN /WLAN/ Wi-Fi) in RFID like railways, metro railways, mines, tunnel, ship yards, fleet yards, oil & petrol yards, defense & naval.
"The concept in passive and active tags of EPC Class 1, 2 and 3, can communicate with reader are mostly used in market and in Class 4 active tags can communicate with active of same class to make a network. IAITO have tried to develop world's 1st initiative to come out Class 5 standards tag or even can use as reader. Each 'TRAKTAG' have capability to read passive population of tags and can communicate with nearest TRAKTAG too," states the company.
"TRAKTAG reader can also work without any host or network connectivity around 800 to 900m (line of sight). In the mesh network approach, each TRAKTAG can communicate with EPC (Electronic Product Code) standards passive tags and bind with Reader ID Code (RIDC) to find out its nearest reader and setup network automatically. With network architecture and RF routers we will able to communicate with each population of passive tags to around 11miles away to remote host or more in future," said Sayantan Sen, R&D manager, IAITO Infotech.
TRAKTAG will be available in the market by the end of June '08 in India, and mid of August '08 in other countries.
